Veiðivötn is a volcanic lake region in the highlands of central Iceland. Geologically, Veiðivötn is part of the Bárðabunga volcanic system. Veiðivötn´s current landscape was created in 1477 by an explosive eruption, the largest in Iceland´s recorded history.
