Þóra Sigurþórsdóttir

Íslensk náttúra ásamt ferðalögum um landið hefur ávallt heillað Þóru. Mikill hluti innblásturs hennar sprettur því úr formum, litum og áferðum náttúrunnar. Dýraríkið hefur einnig verið henni rík uppspretta sköpunar, meðal annars í fjölbreyttri röð verka sem sýna hrúta, hesta, fugla og sjávarlífverur.

Handverk og listir hafa alltaf heillað hana, og hún er fjölhæfur listamaður sem elskar að ögra sjálfri sér með nýjum áskorunum. Í gegnum tíðina hefur hún unnið með margvísleg listform, þar á meðal glerlist, skartgripahönnun, teikningu, vatnslitamálun og olíumálverk – en keramikhönnun hefur orðið henni sérstakt hjartans mál síðustu tvo áratugi.

Þóra kynntist keramiki fyrst í Myndlistarskólanum í Kópavogi þar sem hún sótti námskeið á árunum 1997–1999. Að auki hefur hún sótt fjölmörg námskeið í teikningu, keramiki, glerlist, olíumálun og vatnslitum.

Icelandic nature combined with traveling the country has alway captivate her. Therefore much of her inspiration comes from shapes, colors and textures in the nature. The animal kingdom has also been a big part of her inspiration, for example her versatile animal collection of rams, horses, birds and species from ocean.

Arts and crafts have always fascinated her. She is a versatile artist who loves to challenge herself. She has worked on many different art forms over the years which include glass art, jewelry design, drawing, water coloring and oil paintings but ceramic design has fascinated her for the last two decades.

Þóra was first Introduced to ceramic art in Art School of Kópavogur were she attended seminars from 1997 to 1999. Additionally, she has attended various courses in drawing, ceramic, glass art as well as courses in oil painting and water coloring.
